Chapter 8
In Chapter 8 of Adam Hochschild’s novel Bury the Chains, he writes about Clarkson and how he gained the support of the Quakers which will ultimately help him in his plan to abolish slavery. They came to the decision to abolish the slave trade which would eventually help the slaves gain their freedom or even lead to better treatment of slaves. Later on we read about Clarkson going onboard a slave ship, and we meet two doctors Arnold and Falconbridge. There was much tension in the slave ship, resulting in many of the slave traders and seamen trying to kill him. He eventually escapes.
